Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821 – 1881) was a Russian writer, but also a journalist and a philosopher. His work explores the human condition and the darkest part of the psyche. He is regarded as one of the most influential novelists who ever lived. Dostoyevsky used to realistically depict contemporary Russia, focusing on politics and religion, yet his novels remain timeless. “Crime and Punishment” is what people consider his masterpiece, but he also wrote other renowned novels such as “The Brothers Karamazov” and “White Nights”.
