Fabuly Community Guidelines

Welcome to Fabuly’s book-loving community! We’re excited to hear your thoughts on our classic audiobooks and eBooks. To keep this community welcoming and constructive for everyone, please follow these guidelines when writing reviews. 🙂

Be Respectful and Relevant

Share your honest opinions about the book: We encourage you to write about what you loved, what intrigued you, or how the story made you feel. Personal insights and creative viewpoints are welcome – make your review uniquely yours! Whether you adored the book or found it lacking, honesty and thoughtfulness help other readers.

Stay on topic (the book itself): Keep your review focused on the story, characters, writing style, and your reading/listening experience.

Mark spoilers clearly: If your review contains major spoilers (plot twists, endings, surprises), give a heads-up! You can prepend a Spoiler Warning in your review so that readers can choose whether to see it. Unmarked spoilers can ruin another’s reading experience, so let’s be courteous to fellow classic-lovers discovering these stories for the first time. (Example: “Spoiler alert: I’m about to discuss the ending...”)

Be kind and civil: Treat authors and other members with respect. It’s great to express emotion – books can be passionate subjects – but strong hate speech, personal insults, or harassment are not tolerated. Criticize ideas or execution, not people. For instance, saying “I found the villain underdeveloped and it hurt the story” is okay; saying “Anyone who likes this is stupid” is definitely not. We want Fabuly to remain a friendly place for all readers.

Keep it appropriate: Fabuly is for all ages of literature fans. No hateful language, slurs, or explicit sexual content in your commentary. Mild swearing to vent about a character is one thing; profanity aimed at a real person or crude/offensive content is another – please avoid it. Basically, write something your fellow bookworms would be comfortable reading.

Contribute Your Own Voice

Original reviews only: Please write in your own words. Don’t copy-paste reviews from others or from other sites. Plagiarism is against our rules. We want to hear your take on Frankenstein or Pride and Prejudice, not someone else’s. It’s fine to quote a line from the book or reference another review – just make sure your overall content is unique.

No spoilers from outside sources: (A quick note related to originality – avoid posting leaked spoilers or content not everyone would know. Since our catalog is mostly classics, this is rarely an issue, but if you’re reviewing something with fresh content, respect embargoes and fellow readers.)

No self-promotion or spam: Reviews are for sharing thoughts on the book, not for advertising. Please don’t include links to your business, your own unrelated book, or any promotional content. For example, do not write “Check out my blog for a full review, and buy my novel while you’re there!” It’s fine to mention if a book reminds you of another, but blatant marketing or irrelevant links will be removed. Similarly, posting the same review repeatedly or other spammy behavior is not allowed.

Book reviews, not product reviews: If you have technical problems with the app or audiobook (e.g. audio not syncing), please use our support channels instead of the book’s review section. Reviews should help others decide if they’d enjoy the content of the book itself. Focus on storytelling, not app performance.

One review per book per user: You’re welcome to edit and update your review if your thoughts change, but please don’t post multiple reviews for the same title under one or multiple accounts to skew ratings. Creating fake accounts or coordinating to artificially inflate or deflate a book’s rating is strictly forbidden. Let’s keep things fair and genuine.

No exchange of reviews: Don’t offer incentives for reviews or coordinate “I’ll give your short story 5 stars if you do the same for mine.” Our community should remain trust-driven.

Enforcement & Moderation

Reporting issues: See something that violates these guidelines or just feels off? Please flag it or report it to us at joseph@fabuly.io. Our moderation team will review reported reviews and comments. We aim to check flags within 1-5 business days (often sooner).Don’t engage in fights if someone is breaking rules; just report and let us handle it. We want to keep the vibe positive and will step in when needed.

What we do: Fabuly moderators may hide or remove reviews that violate our policies. Minor infractions might get a gentle correction or warning; serious breaches (hate speech, harassment, spam, etc.) can result in immediate removal of the content and possibly an account suspension. In extreme cases, users who repeatedly or flagrantly violate these guidelines may be banned from the community. This is to ensure everyone feels safe and respected here.

Transparency and trust: We will never edit the text of your review without permission. It’s your voice. However, by posting on Fabuly you agree that we can remove content that breaks the rules. We reserve the right to take down any review that violates these guidelines or our Terms of Service (at our discretion). Our goal is not to police opinions – we welcome all viewpoints on literature – but to remove harmful or inappropriate content when necessary.

Community spirit: Remember that each review is just one reader’s opinion. Disagreements will happen – that’s part of the fun of discussing books. Do not dogpile or bully someone for having a different take. Diverse opinions make the community rich!

Enjoy and engage: The guidelines above boil down to this –add value to the community, don’t diminish it We’re all here because we love stories. So keep your reviews insightful, your interactions kind, and help us build a great community of classic literature enthusiasts.

Thank you for being a part of Fabuly! By following these guidelines, you ensure that Fabuly remains a welcoming, educational, and fun place for everyone to discover and discuss the world’s great classics. Happy reading & listening!
