Rafael Sabatini (1875 – 1950) was a British writer, born in Italy. Because he travelled all across Europe with his parents, he could speak five languages from a young age. He worked as a translator while publishing his first novels and short stories. During World War I, he also worked for the British Intelligence service. Sabatini is best known for his historical fictions praised for bringing specific eras and places to life. “The Sea Hawk” and “Captain Blood” are two of his bestsellers. Several of his adventure and romance novels have been adapted into movies.
