Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874 – 1942), published as L. M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author best known for writing the Anne of Green Gables series. She also wrote many essays, short stories and poems. Montgomery had a very successful career as a novelist, after being a teacher for a couple years. Almost all of her novels take place on Prince Edward Island, and nowadays, it is a popular tourist site, as thousands of people travel to see the place she loved so much.
