Lyman Frank Baum (1856 – 1919) was an American author. He is best known as the creator of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, one of the most beloved works in children’s literature. He wrote stories about imaginative worlds filled with magic and adventure. Baum tried to bring his work to the stage and the screen. “The Wizard of Oz” was adapted into a popular stage musical in 1902. The most famous screen adaptation is the movie from 1939, a classic of 20th-century cinema, that only came out after the author's death. His novels are still famous to this day and keep inspiring adaptations, such as the movie "Wicked", and "Wicked: For Good".
