Jacob (1785 – 1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786 – 1859), were German brothers, best-known for writing and popularizing folktales, such as “Rapunzel”, “Hansel and Gretel” and “Little Red Riding Hood”. They were very important scholars who not only transcribed fairytales read all around the globe, but also studied Germanic linguistics. The Grimm brothers inspired people to record and publish tales that used to be orally told.
