He wrote many poems, novels, and plays, but he is best known for his fairytales which have inspired many movies, plays and ballets across the world. His stories usually teach moral values to children and adults alike. Nowadays, his novels are still famous, they even inspired a few Disney movies. His legacy is immense and the highest international recognition that an author and illustrator of children’s books can receive has his name: The Hans Christian Andersen Award.
