George Eliot

Mary Ann Evans (1819 – 1880) was an English writer and translator, known by her pen name George Eliot. She used a male pseudonym for her work to be taken more seriously. Her novels are praised for their exploration of human psychology during the Victorian era. She is famous for her realistic work, and her portraits of the countryside. One of her most famous novels is “Middlemarch”.
