Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875 – 1950) was an American writer. He used to write advertising copy for a living, before he tried fiction and published what was later novelized as “A Princess of Mars” in an adventure magazine. It was such a success that he became a full-time writer. He is best known for having written “Tarzan”, a series of twenty four books, and capitalizing on it thanks to a comic strip, a movie, and even merchandising.
