Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859 – 1930) was a Scottish writer and physician. He is known for having created Sherlock Holmes, who first appeared in his novel “A Study in Scarlet”, in 1887. He also wrote many works of fiction and adventure, such as “The Lost World”. Everyone knows who Sherlock Holmes is, even those who haven’t read the novels. The famous investigator also had a huge impact on forensic science, because Doyle’s stories have contributed to the evolution of detective work and techniques.
