Conradin is a young boy who uses his imagination to escape the real world. His guardian is a cruel woman who abuses him almost daily. But Conradin has a secret; he keeps two pets, a hen and a ferret, in a tool-shed. His relationship with the latter evolves into something more than companionship. He worships the ferret like a god. One day, his vicious guardian discovers the shed, but she might be surprised by what she finds there. The psychological horror of this short story is wicked and disturbing, yet laced with such dry humor that it will either make you laugh, horrify you… or maybe both at the same time.
